Moscow in the 1930s: The work of a well-known writer (Yevgeny Zyganov) is censored by the Soviet state, and the premiere of his play is cancelled. Inspired by his lover Margarita (Julia Snigir), he begins work on a new novel, in which he allows all the people from his real life to appear in a satirically exaggerated form. At the center is Woland (August Diehl) as a mystically dark force visiting Moscow to take revenge on all those responsible for the author's ruin. As the Master, as he now calls himself, delves deeper into his story, he gradually loses the ability to distinguish between reality and fiction…
